Why Dubby's Meadow?

Dubby is a multi-generational dairy farmer from the grasslands of Wiltshire. Dubby spent 70 years milking, enduring all the good and bad that farming has to offer.

These photos capture Dubby’s last milking, before a well-earned retirement. Throughout those 70 years, a love for his animals, and what they offer us, was at the forefront of Dubby’s farming. Whilst the Common Farm parlour is no longer in existence, Dubby’s Meadow is our way of continuing his farming legacy.

Who are we?

We are Beth and Josh and, along with our small children, Eden and Iona, we are new-entrant livestock farmers. Day to day farming is undertaken by Beth (with help from Eden and Iona!!). Josh is an ordained minister in the Church of England and is passionate about supporting rural communities. We have been proud to attend various shows, exhibiting our livestock to the public.

What do we farm?

We are based across the Norfolk and Suffolk border and have a strong focus on grazing conservation and environmentally managed land. Dubby’s Meadow is home to the ‘Norvic Flock' of pedigree Dorset Down sheep. We also finish Berkshire Pigs bred by members of the Berkshire Pig Association who share our farming values. We have a brood of laying hens providing eggs for the local community, and are often sold out from our small egg hut! We are proud to support the RBST and seek to conserve and promote rare, native-breed livestock.

What about the future?

In the future we hope to be able to diversify our produce through the introduction of different livestock into our grazing regime. We are actively searching for a suitable holding to enable us to invite people to experience Dubby's Meadow for themselves, and to expand our education and therapy offerings.
